We administer both standardized and non-standardized measures to assist us in understanding communication strengths and challenges, as well as the impact of these challenges on participation in daily activities.
Intervention is developed specifically for each client, based on areas of strengths and needs, interests and priorities. Since the context for communication varies for each client, care is taken to provide relevant and meaningful support and intervention.
We engage in ongoing education and strive to ensure that our services are evidence-based and align with CASLPO practice guidelines.

Toddlers and Children: developmental speech, language and early literacy skills are addressed through individual sessions, with parent education and support provided. We are happy to liaise with teachers and other community service providers to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Teens and Young Adults: coaching and support to develop homework and study skills, including test taking strategies, note taking, reading and writing skills and organization and time management skills.
Adults: Our services for adults are focused on brain injury and concussion assessments and intervention. Our work in cognitive and communication is guided by the Preferred Practice Guidelines set out by CASLPO.

We welcome the opportunity to participate in school and team meetings, provide education, documentation and resources for clients who are returning to work or school after a concussion or brain injury and / or provide communication support within families.
With years of training and experience, we come to the table with practical and evidence-based solutions to address communication difficulties, and are advocates for the communication needs of our clients.
We are available to facilitate the development speech, language, cognitive-communication and social communication skills to improve our clients' abilities to manage the demands of academics, work responsibilities, family and social relationships.
Our Literacy on the Lawn Summer Camp was developed using the principles from the Science of Reading research. This early literacy program focuses on phonological awareness skills such as identifying sounds in words, segmenting words into syllables and sounds, blending sounds to make words and learning to match sounds to letters. This program is designed for children ages 4 to 7 years who are learning how to read. The program is facilitated by Speech-Language Pathologists and graduate students in speech-language pathology program from Western University.
Our Literacy on the Lawn Summer Reading Program for children ages 8 to 12 years, focuses on more complex decoding, reading fluency and reading comprehension skills. There will be daily opportunities to practice spelling, writing sentences and learning to how to organize and write paragraphs.
Elizabeth is fully qualified speech-language pathologist who is in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario. After completing an Honours Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature at Huron University College, Western University, Elizabeth pursued her dream of becoming a speech-language pathologist at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. To compliment her work as a speech-language pathologist, working in the area of brain injury rehabilitation, Elizabeth earned a Master of Education in Educational Psychology from the Faculty of Education at Western University.
From her work at St. Joseph's Healthcare, to Parkwood Hospital, the Thames Valley Children's Centre and working in community-based private practice, Elizabeth has a wealth of experience in both paediatric and adult practice. In particular, Elizabeth has spent more than 25 years working with children, teens and adults with concussions and brain injuries, and has special interest in return to learn programming and intervention for children and teens after an injury.
Elizabeth places a high value on continuing education and sets time aside each month to attend workshops, conferences and online courses. She has enjoyed opportunities to share her clinical knowledge with graduate students as a guest lecturer in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Western University, and as a Clinical Supervisor in clinical training settings.

Olivia is a fully qualified Speech-Language Pathologist in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). She earned her Master of Clinical Sciences in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Speech-Language Pathology) degree from Western University. Olivia has a long-time passion for speech-language pathology and interest in communication disorders.
Olivia is dedicated to lifelong learning. She recently completed her certification in the Hanen It Takes Two to Talk parent program and continues to seek learning opportunities to expand her skills. Olivia is excited to support families of children with developmental speech and language disorders through parent coaching, individual therapy, and small group therapy approaches.
Lauren is a fully qualified Speech-Language Pathologist who is in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario. After completing her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Speech Sciences at the University of British Columbia, Lauren moved to London Ontario to pursue her Clinical Master's of Speech-Language Pathology at Western University.
In addition to working clinically, Lauren is pursuing her PhD in Speech and Language Sciences at Western University. Her area of research is focused on supporting autistic children and their families. For her doctoral thesis, she is completing a series of practice-based research projects with speech-language pathologists and parents to develop a practical and sustainable model for family-centered, language-based services for autistic preschoolers. Lauren enjoys working clinically and connecting directly with families in the community to understand their needs and guide future research projects.
Lauren is passionate about collaborating with families when supporting client's and adjusting to the individual needs of each client, while also incorporating the most recent evidence to ensure best practice. Lauren has particular interest in supporting the autistic community through both individual and group sessions with clients as well as incorporating technology to provide alternative options for communication.
Geneviève is a Speech-Language Pathologist registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO), as well as a member of Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC). Geneviève completed her Master of Health Sciences in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Ottawa in 2013. She is fully bilingual and is happy to offer services in French and/or English. Both in-person and virtual services are available.
Over the course of her career, Geneviève has worked with preschool-aged and school-aged children through various organizations, though, most recently, she is a Speech-Language Pathologist at Thames Valley District School Board. Her clinical interests include early literacy and speech sound disorders.
Geneviève is devoted to working with children and their families to help them achieve their goals.

Caitlin is the Office Administrator at Fern Speech and Language Services. She is in charge of the day-to-day business around the office.
Samantha is the Virtual Office Assistant of Fern Speech and Language Services. She is responsible for processing insurance payments. Samantha has been instrumental in setting up and supporting the team with the implementation of Jane.
Fern Speech and Language Services can bill directly to auto insurance plans for clients who have been involved in a motor vehicle collision.
Direct billing is available for some extended health insurance plans.
Clients who are paying privately will be provided with receipts which may be submitted to extended health benefits for reimbursement when applicable.
